Prairie Village’s Bruce Smith Drugs says goodbye after six decades

Bruce Smith Drugs, which recently closed in the center after more than six decades. It said it sold its Rx inventory to Hen House Markets and an auction house removed the merchandise at the front of the store. Hen House officials said they are remodeling the grocery store, at 6950 Mission Road, to accommodate the pharmacy in the space that was formerly the cafe area. They hope to have Hen House Pharmacy open in early April. Bruce Smith Drugs’ pharmacy manager; Debbie Richmond, as well as its pharmacy clerk and delivery driver also will work at the new pharmacy.

Longtime pharmacy will roost again in Hen House

Bruce Smith Drugs, a fixture of Prairie Village for more than 60 years, may not be reopening but the pharmacy's owners are returning to the area.

After being closed for nearly six months, the Shawnee Mission Post reports that a Hen House, also located in Village Shops, will provide a new place for Bruce Smith Drugs' pharmacy operations.
